DETAILS

Weihrauch HW44 FAC Air Pistol

The Weihrauch HW44 FAC combines a regulated PCP system with a compact repeating air-pistol design.

A built-in air cylinder powers the pistol at a maximum fill pressure of 200 bar / 2,900 PSI. In addition, an integrated pressure gauge makes it easy to check the remaining air pressure.

The HW44 uses a 10-shot magazine and a sidelever action. Therefore, the shooter can load another pellet without dealing with a single-shot system after every shot.

It also uses a rifled barrel, adjustable two-stage trigger and ambidextrous controls.

Weihrauch HW44 FAC Performance

The Weihrauch HW44 FAC uses a pre-charged pneumatic power system.

The regulated setup helps manage the air supply from shot to shot. As a result, the pistol can deliver consistent performance throughout the useful part of a fill.

The retailer specifications for the .177 version list a maximum velocity of up to 810 FPS and approximately 20 shots per fill.

However, pellet weight, fill pressure and shooting conditions can affect actual velocity. Therefore, treat the listed figure as a maximum rather than an exact speed for every pellet.

Weihrauch’s current factory specification lists the .177 FAC model at 230 m/s and 18 joules.

Regulated PCP Air System

The HW44 uses an integrated 200-bar PCP cylinder.

Unlike a CO2 pistol, it stores compressed air inside its own air system. Furthermore, Weihrauch adds a regulator to help manage the air supply.

An integrated manometer shows the cylinder pressure.

This means the shooter can check the remaining pressure without needing to guess how much air remains.

The current manufacturer specification also confirms a 200-bar PCP system with an integrated pressure gauge and quick-fill arrangement.

10-Shot Magazine

The Weihrauch HW44 FAC uses a 10-shot rotary magazine.

This gives the pistol several shots before the magazine needs another set of pellets.

The sidelever operates the repeating system. Therefore, after each shot, the shooter uses the lever to prepare the next pellet.

The magazine arrangement keeps the system simple while giving the HW44 more capacity than a single-shot PCP pistol.

Sidelever Action

The HW44 uses a sidelever action rather than a traditional bolt.

The lever operates the repeating mechanism and moves the next pellet into position.

Because the lever sits along the side of the pistol, it provides straightforward access during normal target use.

The design also works together with the 10-shot magazine.

Two-Stage Match Trigger

Weihrauch equips the HW44 with an adjustable two-stage match trigger.

The first stage provides initial trigger movement. Then, the second stage reaches the release point.

This gives the shooter a clear feel through the trigger cycle.

Furthermore, the adjustable design lets the trigger setup suit different preferences within the limits described in the manufacturer instructions.

Ambidextrous Grip

The pistol uses an ambidextrous grip.

Therefore, both right-handed and left-handed shooters can use the same basic grip design.

Weihrauch also uses slip-resistant grip inserts to provide a more secure surface for the hands.

The balanced shape keeps the pistol comfortable during longer recreational target sessions.

Ambidextrous Manual Safety

The HW44 also includes an ambidextrous manual safety.

This keeps the safety control accessible from either side.

However, a mechanical safety never replaces careful handling.

Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, keep your finger away from the trigger until you intend to shoot and follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions.

Integrated Pressure Gauge

The built-in manometer provides a quick way to check air pressure.

Instead of relying only on the number of shots fired, the shooter can look at the gauge to see the pressure remaining in the air cylinder.

This feature is especially useful on a PCP pistol because the air supply directly affects operation.

Never exceed the stated 200-bar / 2,900 PSI maximum fill pressure.

Rifled Barrel

The Weihrauch HW44 uses a rifled barrel for pellet ammunition.

Rifling helps stabilize a pellet as it travels through the barrel.

As a result, pellet choice can affect accuracy and consistency.

The version described here uses a barrel measuring approximately 9.72 inches according to the retailer specifications.

Different pellet weights can also produce different velocity figures.

Weihrauch HW44 FAC Open Sights

The pistol comes with integrated open sights.

At the front, it uses a blade sight. Meanwhile, the rear sight adjusts for windage and elevation.

Therefore, shooters can use the pistol without immediately adding an optic.

The adjustable rear sight also gives some control over the point of impact when using a particular pellet at a chosen target distance.

Weaver and Picatinny Rails

The Weihrauch HW44 FAC provides Weaver/Picatinny-style mounting rails.

These give the pistol mounting space for compatible sighting equipment where appropriate.

In addition, the rail system allows the user to keep the standard open sights or use another compatible sight arrangement.

Always check the size and mounting requirements of an accessory before fitting it.

Excellent build quality

March 12, 2026

The HW44 feels very refined and solid in the hand. Accuracy has been excellent and the trigger is one of the best I’ve used on a PCP pistol. It is a little heavier than I expected, but the weight actually helps with stability.
