DETAILS

Vortex Venom 1-6×24 AR-BDC3 LPVO

The Vortex Venom 1-6×24 combines true 1x low-end magnification with a 6x upper setting in a compact LPVO design.

Vortex pairs the magnification range with an illuminated AR-BDC3 MOA reticle and a 30mm single-piece tube. Therefore, the optic gives the user a simple variable-power layout without the size of a traditional high-magnification riflescope.

The scope also uses capped turrets with 1/4 MOA adjustment clicks. In addition, Vortex includes a removable throw lever to make magnification changes easier.

At approximately 19.5 ounces and 10.3 inches long, the Venom remains fairly compact for a 1-6×24 riflescope.

Vortex Venom 1-6×24 Magnification

The Vortex Venom 1-6×24 provides magnification from 1x to 6x.

At 1x, the optic gives a broad field of view. Meanwhile, turning the magnification ring toward 6x brings smaller details closer.

This 6x zoom range makes the scope more flexible than a fixed-power optic while keeping the controls straightforward.

The field of view measures approximately 126 feet at 100 yards on 1x and 20.2 feet at 100 yards on 6x.

Second Focal Plane AR-BDC3 Reticle

The Venom uses a second focal plane reticle.

Therefore, the reticle appears the same size as magnification changes.

This differs from a first focal plane design, where the reticle grows and shrinks together with the target image.

For this reason, it is important to identify the Venom correctly as SFP on your Gunvexa product page rather than describing it as FFP.

Illuminated AR-BDC3 Reticle

Vortex equips this scope with an illuminated AR-BDC3 MOA reticle.

The reticle uses a glass-etched design with a 1 MOA center dot surrounded by a broken circle.

According to Vortex, the reticle was developed around common 5.56 ammunition profiles and includes additional BDC references.

The illuminated center section also helps make the aiming reference easier to see when surrounding light becomes limited.

AR-BDC3 MOA Layout

The AR-BDC3 uses MOA-based references.

Vortex lists the center dot at 1 MOA, while the broken outer circle measures approximately 16.625 MOA.

This gives the reticle a recognizable center while keeping additional reference marks below the main aiming point.

Because the reticle uses a second focal plane design, follow Vortex’s reticle manual when interpreting the subtensions at different magnification settings.

Illuminated Reticle

The scope includes electronic illumination.

Therefore, the center portion of the reticle can become easier to distinguish when lighting conditions change.

A CR2032 battery powers the illumination system, and Vortex includes one battery with the scope.

However, the glass-etched reticle remains physically present even when illumination is switched off.

Vortex Venom 30mm Tube

The Vortex Venom 1-6×24 uses a 30mm maintube.

Therefore, choose rings or a one-piece mount designed for a 30mm scope tube.

This size is common among LPVO-style optics, which makes compatible mounting hardware widely available.

The single-piece tube also forms part of the scope’s sealed and rigid construction.

24mm Objective Lens

The Venom uses a 24mm objective lens.

This relatively small objective helps keep the front of the optic compact.

In addition, 24mm is a common objective size for scopes in the 1-6x LPVO class.

The objective works together with the 30mm tube and short overall body to keep the scope from becoming unnecessarily bulky.

1/4 MOA Adjustments

The Venom’s turrets adjust in 1/4 MOA clicks.

Therefore, four clicks equal one MOA of adjustment.

Vortex lists 25 MOA of adjustment per turret rotation.

In addition, the scope provides a broad 140 MOA maximum elevation adjustment and 140 MOA maximum windage adjustment.

Capped Turrets

Both adjustment turrets use a capped design.

The caps help protect the settings from unwanted movement during ordinary handling and storage.

Therefore, once the optic has been set correctly, the user can replace the caps and keep the adjustment controls covered.

This gives the Venom a cleaner profile than riflescopes with large exposed turrets.

140 MOA Adjustment Range

Vortex lists a maximum 140 MOA elevation adjustment.

It also lists 140 MOA of maximum windage adjustment.

Those figures describe the scope’s overall mechanical adjustment range.

Meanwhile, each full turret rotation provides 25 MOA of travel.

Keeping those figures separate helps prevent customers from confusing total adjustment range with adjustment per rotation.

3.7-Inch Eye Relief

The scope provides approximately 3.7 inches of eye relief.

This gives some flexibility when positioning the optic on the rifle.

However, the final mounting position still depends on the stock, mount and the user’s natural head position.

Check the sight picture across the full magnification range before tightening the mounting system.

Wide Field of View

One of the useful features of a 1-6x optic is the broad view available at the lowest magnification.

At 1x, the Venom provides approximately 126 feet of field of view at 100 yards.

At 6x, this narrows to about 20.2 feet at 100 yards.

Therefore, increasing magnification gives a closer view of a smaller section of the scene.

100-Yard Parallax Setting

Vortex lists the Venom with a 100-yard parallax setting.

Unlike riflescopes with a side-focus control, this model does not require the user to adjust parallax manually.

That keeps the exterior controls simpler.

It also helps distinguish the Venom from larger precision riflescopes that use a dedicated side-focus turret.

Fast-Focus Eyepiece

The Venom includes a fast-focus eyepiece.

This allows the user to adjust the eyepiece so the reticle appears sharp to their eye.

Once the reticle looks clear, the eyepiece normally requires little additional adjustment.

This simple control makes initial setup easier without adding another large turret to the scope body.

Included Throw Lever

Vortex includes a throw lever with the Venom.

The lever attaches to the magnification ring and provides a larger surface for turning it.

As a result, moving between 1x and 6x can feel easier than gripping the magnification ring alone.

If a user prefers the cleaner appearance without the lever, the removable design gives them that option.

Vortex XD Optical System

The Venom uses Vortex’s XD Optical System.

Vortex describes this system as focusing on resolution, edge-to-edge sharpness, contrast and reduced chromatic aberration.

In simpler terms, the optical system aims to provide a clear and useful image throughout the magnification range.

This works together with the fully multi-coated lenses to manage light transmission.

Fully Multi-Coated Lenses

Vortex applies anti-reflective coatings to the air-to-glass surfaces.

These coatings help improve light transmission and image clarity.

In addition, they help reduce some reflections that can interfere with the view.

This matters across the entire 1-6x magnification range, especially when outdoor lighting changes.

ArmorTek Lens Protection

The exterior lenses use Vortex’s ArmorTek protective coating.

This hard coating helps protect the exposed lens surfaces against scratches, dirt and oil.

However, proper lens care still matters.

Use suitable optical cleaning tools rather than rough cloth or household cleaning products.

Aircraft-Grade Aluminum Construction

Vortex uses aircraft-grade aluminum for the Venom scope body.

The company machines the optic from a solid block to create a rigid single-piece tube.

This construction supports the scope’s strength while also keeping the body relatively compact.

The exterior uses a low-glare matte black anodized finish.

Matte Black Finish

The Venom comes in a low-glare matte black finish.

The anodized surface helps protect the exterior from ordinary wear and corrosion.

It also gives the optic a clean appearance that works with a wide range of rifle configurations.

The finish does not change the 30mm tube size or mounting requirements.

Waterproof Construction

Vortex O-ring seals the Venom to help keep moisture away from the internal optical system.

Therefore, normal rain and changing outdoor conditions should not allow water inside a properly maintained optic.

The sealed body works together with the single-piece construction to protect the internal components.

Fogproof Performance

The scope uses nitrogen gas purging to help prevent internal fogging.

This helps the optic deal with changes in temperature and humidity.

Therefore, the interior lenses should remain clear under normal changing weather conditions when the scope remains in proper condition.

Shockproof Design

Vortex also describes the Venom as shockproof.

The scope body and internal construction are designed to withstand recoil and ordinary impact associated with normal use.
